1st REDFIN Reunion
October 2 – 5, 1997
Norfolk, Virginia

The first REDFIN Reunion was held on October 2-5, 1997 at Lake Wright Resort in Norfolk, Virginia.

The REDFIN Committee consisted of John Williams, Joe Schwartz, Ken Small and Pete Amunrud.  They spent many months locating and getting in touch with the REDFIN crewmen, and planning the reunion.

The attendance was great, with 127 Crewmen plus their guests.  There were eleven World War II Crewmen that attended.  They were; Dean Adams, Merlin Rue Adcock, Ted Breisch, George Carinder, Bruce Graham, John Gruner, Steve Petreshock, Nick Petronzio, Lloyd Prickett, Red Schwertfeger and George Walrath.

We got to tour one of the Attack Submarines, either USS Montpelier (SSN-765) or USS Atlanta (SSN-712).  Later at the Dinner Buffet, CDR Maurice (Moe) Montana, CO of Atlanta was our guest speaker.

We had many door prizes raffled off, the food was great, the hospitality of Lake Wright was the best.  The best thing of all was the kindling of old friendships with buddies that were once close as family members.
